چکیده

Slag splashing operations at the end of converter blow process can improve furnace liner life and operation rate. However, effect factors on slag actual dimensions is yet to be fully understood. A three-dimensional transient mathematical model coupled with response surface analysis has been established investigate effects amount remaining slag, oxygen lance height, top-blowing nitrogen flowrate in a 120 ton top-blown converter. The predicted density validated by experimental data. numerical simulation results show that area ratio increase which greatest splashing. As height decreases, first then decrease. positively correlated ratio. When high, impact not significant. increases increasing as low.

Computer Simulation of Slag Splashing in a Steelmaking Converter

Some variables that influence the slag splashing phenomenon in an oxygen steelmaking converter are numerically analyzed in this work. The effect of lance height, jet velocity, jet exit angle and slag viscosity on the washing and ejection mechanisms of slag splashing is studied in this work employing twodimensional transient computational fluid dynamics simulations. A parameter here called avera...

CFD Analysis of Influence of Slag Viscosity on the Splashing Process in an Oxygen Steelmaking Converter

Physical properties of molten slag such as viscosity, density and surface tension have a significant influence on the slag splashing process in an oxygen steelmaking converter. Particularly, viscosity determines the shear forces that rule droplets formation. Besides, stirring of the molten slag bath strongly depends on this property. In this work, the influence of viscosity on the efficiency of...

Model-based Slopping Detection in a Top-blown Steel Converter

The most common steel-making process in the world is the Lintz-Donawitz converter. During operation, a slag foam is created to improve the converter performance. Problems arise when the foam level exceeds the height of the vessel and overflows, causing metal loss, process disruption and environmental pollution. The goal of this study is to design a model-based algorithm exploiting real-time pro...

Large Eddy Simulation of Bubbling-Jetting Transition in a Bottom Blown Copper Converter

In this work the isothermal transition from bubbling to jetting regime in a bottom blown Peirce-Smith copper converter is numerically studied, varying the air jet injection velocity from 5 to 100 m s -1 . Large Eddy Simulation turbulence model is employed in the computer simulations to obtain transient, rather than averaged, phase distributions. For low injection velocities the bubbling regime ...

Dynamic simulation of splashing fluids

In this paper we describe a method for modeling the dynamic behavior of splashing fluids. The model simulates the behavior of a fluid when objects impact or float on its surface. The forces generated by the objects create waves and splashes on the surface of the fluid. To demonstrate the realism and limitations of the model, images from a computergenerated animation are presented and compared w...
